Context:

Job description:
1. Lead the technical aspects and delivery follow-up of mechanical development activities at the ODM’s ( Original Design Manufacturer) for Gateway housings.
2. Propose technical feasible solutions in line with Thomson product guidelines but based on mainly high level inputs from customers
% T$ [: V/ I- `+ U0 i# w4 V, a3. Continuously balance cost, quality and lead-time of housing design in a competitive market.
/ u; i8 h) s5 i% _/ XDetailed:
% [: a: c" Y# O# m/ J: s+ G! H' I1. manage whole mechanical design-flow from idea to industrial product
$ s4 v) \7 |& H. J" T7 s2. translate typical customer Look&Feel-specs into measurable/technical specs
, M/ G- y6 {9 c) e8 D- q3. Set-up high level specification (or requirements) for plastic housing development
4. Track and support the development and testing of housings @ ODM
a) Define technical solutions in-line with Thomson’s strategy on cost, quality and availability
5 t* Y* \% U  j0 u5 J1 z& M9 Sb) Judge and validate the mechanical/technical solutions.
$ U  j- E' S% X5 F6 p% Rc) Validate tooling trial samples through different steps and evaluate with a “customer’s eye”.
$ p+ `( q5 m- D( Z' n, p0 x) J5. Develop the outlook and technology-roadmap of the next generation gateways.
Required profile:
General
3 n4 p: p* v% H, O3 W, j( L8 r  o# ~Good communication skills in English (both orally and written) and Chinese.
! {% e# U; D2 v3 N1 ~Specific
Skills
1. Bachelor degree in Mechnical Engineering or similar by experience.
2. 4+ years experience in Mechanical design, preferably in plastic for consumer products.
3. Project management experience is a strong plus. (MS Office, MS Project)
1 z1 M; L( c* S# O* z1 n4. CAD tools UG-NX5 is a must
2 j9 b) c: H' |7 E* T2 P5 E5. Adobe Illustrator
6. Plastic Injection Technology
8 l! A) t; q% L0 T7. Industrial processes on mechanical items
8. Thermal management
9. Secondary process technology (Spray painting, Silk printing, Tempo printing, Laser engraving)
10. Basic knowledge on electronic components is a plus.
