Job description:
/ p" _5 D" N  C9 P1. Lead the technical aspects and delivery follow-up of mechanical development activities at the ODM’s ( Original Design Manufacturer) for Gateway housings.
( u/ P) S. {, r& |: q3 x+ M. \2. Propose technical feasible solutions in line with Thomson product guidelines but based on mainly high level inputs from customers
3 Y/ @6 ?7 d" n) n, ?! L2 \/ @3 _3. Continuously balance cost, quality and lead-time of housing design in a competitive market.
3 ~$ M" C" w4 F, ~3 O( `Detailed:
6 e6 m3 u8 w4 |- x/ n; V  o1. manage whole mechanical design-flow from idea to industrial product
2. translate typical customer Look&Feel-specs into measurable/technical specs
( T  S- a5 ~, d3. Set-up high level specification (or requirements) for plastic housing development
5 S4 I) k5 y4 l+ \3 w4. Track and support the development and testing of housings @ ODM
a) Define technical solutions in-line with Thomson’s strategy on cost, quality and availability
- {; m  m2 `4 C) @/ D* ^/ H: bb) Judge and validate the mechanical/technical solutions.
  t9 i* S. Q+ cc) Validate tooling trial samples through different steps and evaluate with a “customer’s eye”.
/ u( ?+ c' h" l  n- I$ b) ^5. Develop the outlook and technology-roadmap of the next generation gateways.

1. Bachelor degree in Mechnical Engineering or similar by experience.
( p/ n1 _7 a; d2 M2. 4+ years experience in Mechanical design, preferably in plastic for consumer products.
0 o( ~+ l( J) t9 r: T/ ?3. Project management experience is a strong plus. (MS Office, MS Project)
4 o2 z+ ~; \8 C2 L1 j, ~4. CAD tools UG-NX5 is a must
5. Adobe Illustrator
6. Plastic Injection Technology
7. Industrial processes on mechanical items
2 P1 |. a8 k  Y; T$ ^( M( R/ X6 i, w8. Thermal management
/ r( w+ H9 V. q; @- J! m! X% y6 [/ z9. Secondary process technology (Spray painting, Silk printing, Tempo printing, Laser engraving)
10. Basic knowledge on electronic components is a plus.
