: p/ I! {' F( iFunctionality Overview In this lesson you learn how to change and customize the display of the connection and component lists. Remember, changing the display of a list does not affect the contents of the list. Lesson 4A - Define Format Dialog This lesson begins where the last lesson left off, assuming the tutorial assembly is the work part, the connection list already imported, and the Route List Navigator is active. Step 1 | Choose the Properties icon on the Connection List toolbar. | Step 2 | Choose the Edit Display Format button.- The Define Format dialog is displayed. There are currently two display formats defined; Simple and Full., Q. B1 b& I) ^7 F5 T: F* l
| Step 3 | Without choosing a format, choose OK.- The Define Format dialog is dismissed and you are returned to the Connection List Properties dialog. Notice that the dialog shows the current display format is None, meaning no display format is to be applied.

| Step 4 | Choose OK to apply these settings to the connection list display window. - The connection list re-displays without a display format applied to it. The headings are the internal fields names (from_comp, from_conn, etc.) rather than the column names as defined in the FULL display format used previously. The set of fields being displayed are the connection list "smart" fields (which always exist, but may have no assigned values).) `/ n5 M. a2 }. L
| Step 5 | Go back to Properties->Edit Display Format and activate the Simple display format. - The Connection List re-displays with a different set of columns displayed.' M* T& `; [; d3 h& U% `1 T; L
| Step 6 | Place the cursor over the boundary line between one column header and another. Hold down MB1 and drag the boundary left or right.- The column width dynamically adjusts

| Step 7 | Go to Properties? gt; Edit Display Format and choose the Import button.- The File Selection dialog is displayed to let you choose a format file, which is a file containing other display format definitions./ l3 g: V8 @, k
| Step 8 | Navigate as necessary to choose the file tutorial.fmt from your tutorial directory.- Two new display formats are added to the list of available display formats in the Define Format dialog./ M: F# J2 Q6 B) n1 D
| Step 9 | Highlight the display format demo1 but DO NOT press OK. | Step 10 | Choose the Preview button on the Define Format dialog.- The connection list is displayed in the information window using the demo1 display format (which defines just two fields).

| Step 11 | Notice that an information window appears which displays the contents of the connection list in the demo1 format. Dismiss the information window by choosing File->Close. Highlight the demo1 display format again. | Step 12 | Choose demo1 from the Define Format dialog again. | Step 13 | Choose the Delete button. - The display format has been deleted from the part file and removed from the Define Format dialog.

| Step 2 | Highlight the from_port row.- The lower half of the Format Settings dialog is populated with the settings for the from_port column.# }. c+ D* d& G: i k
| Step 3 | Edit the Column Name to change it to read From Pin rather than From Port. | Step 4 | Choose the Insert/Replace button to update the format with your edit.- The column name is changed in the format definition.

| Step 5 | Choose the Preview button at the bottom of the dialog to verify the change. | Step 6 | Dismiss the information window and choose OK to return to the Define Format window. | Step 7 | Choose the demo2 format and OK, and then OK again in the Properties dialog to apply this new format to the connection list display. | ) h1 w4 Y1 j$ ?"
