    The NET1 function in 3D SPACE mode is used to create, deform and smooth surfaces called nets.

    Nets are defined by a biparametric network of nodes (IU, IV)

Each node comprises 6 values or node conditions:

a curvature (vector) in the u direction

The defined surfaces have:

Therefore a net can be modified locally by changing one or more node conditions.

With the exception of the crossed double derivative, these conditions are very explicit as they are intrinsic values (independent of any parameterization and the other points).

Notes: If a non-isotropic transformation is applied to a NET, the equivalent surface of the resulting NET may not be the exact transformation of the equivalent surface of the original NET. In such a case, the NET transformation is approximate.

    The NET1 function in 3D SPACE mode contains nine menus:

Menu 2 is activated by selecting the DEFORM item.

If a node condition is free, the program is authorized to optimize it during smoothing operations or neighboring major deformations.

When nets are created, the conditions present on the definition elements (attributes of CST type elements, curvatures and tangents present on the CCV, the values present on the surfaces to be approximated, and so forth) are imposed. The missing conditions are initialized by the program and are free. Thereafter, any node condition modified by the user is imposed.

The current net is the one on which the user is working.

When any item is selected, the first interaction is to choose the current net. Once selected, a symbol is displayed indicating the direction and orientation of the u and v.

Keying in a node or isoparametric

The user may select a node (or an isoparametric, depending on the item used) by keyboard entry.

Examples
To select the node whose rank is 4 along u and 3 along v, the user must key in: 4,3

Keying in a node condition

In all cases, providing there is no ambiguity, the user can select a node condition by keyboard entry. This avoids the selection on the screen of the graphic symbols representing the node conditions, which can occasionally be difficult.
在任何情况下,都没有模棱两可的提供方式,用户能通过键盘输入选择一个节点条件。这就避免了选择在几何标记的屏幕上表现出的节点条件,这时而很困难。
  The various keyboard entries are as follows:

Triangular Patches

  Triangular patches (that is, patches having two common limit points) may be created and used in the NET1 function. These patches may be created using the CREATE, DEFORM or APPROXIM item (for example, sphere approximation).

Each time a CCV (composite curve) is selected, the program uses the local values (points, tangents, curvatures) at the arc ends. The resulting net isoparametric will be the same as the selected CCV only if it is a spline2.

    Changing the point value modifies the four isoparametric arcs coming from this point. It also influences the four patches of which it is one of the end points.

The crossed double derivative is the current node condition.

Since the crossed double derivative is a correcting factor, it is very difficult to determine a suitable value.

A point is displayed such that its position with respect to the node point indicates the influence of the crossed double derivative on the positive UV zones (reverse influence on the UV negative zones). The components of this point in the local axis system (TU, TV, N) are displayed in the keyboard entry zone of the screen.

The transverse tangent comb is such that all comb vectors are concurrent at this point.

TANGENCY
Rapid and overall tangent connection of a NET type element on one or more NET or SURFACE type elements

The tangent comb along a boundary depends on the following node conditions of the sextuplets on this boundary:
the points,
the transverse tangents
the longitudinal tangents
the longitudinal curvatures
the crossed double derivatives.

The boundary itself, depending on the points and the longitudinal tangents and curvatures, is not to be modified. These node conditions will therefore not be modifiable. The values which can be optimized are in this case:
the transverse tangents, except for those located in the corner of two processed boundaries
the crossed double derivatives on the boundaries.

There are two types of tangent connection:
where the aim is to achieve tangent continuity of the transverse isoparametric of the NET with the corresponding isoparametric of the support surface.
where the aim is just to align the normal of the NET with the normal of the corresponding surface.
